REFLECTING ON TODAY'S CLASS EXPERIENCE

Annotated bibliography is all I'm going to say the essay assignment that has been really getting on my nerves. In class we had to type out what we had so far and turn it in for credit. I had nothing I had just started today but I did turn something in. We all went to the writing center to type our progress out, everyone one was doing their thing while I was getting everything together. I like challenges they test my skills and that’s what today was all about, getting something done when I had nothing. Well I did get to write about my first article now I need to write about my second one and go to the writing center with a rough draft typed out for feedback. That's what today's class was mainly all about us showing our instructor our progress. I showed some, so I’m glad with that and I was in a rush. In the end I had proof to show that I was doing the assignment and that’s better then turning in nothing. This essay is the last essay assignment and I just want to get it over and done with as soon as I can. So over our holiday break this essay is getting written and typed out.

REFLECTING ON WRITING CENTER EXPERIENCE FOR MY ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY

Once again back to the writing center once again for another essay assignment due soon. The title says it all my annotated bibliography, well I have not had a chance to go yet but will next Tuesday. I was out on Monday and I had made an appointment for that day at 11:15. I was feeling sick so I stayed home, but I'm sure the experience won't be any different from the other ones. Every time that I have come to the writing center I learn something new and get the help I need. The writing center like I've said before has always been there when I needed help and well my instructor demands that we go for each essay assignment. Its part of our grade we have to get a paper stamped by the writing center once we leave from our tutoring session. That paper is turned in to show proof that we went and got help on our essay. Well you can see that I don't have that paper yet because I have not gone yet. This has kind of made me mad because I'm one of those people that like to have everything done before hand. If I did not miss that day I would have had that paper stamped and ready to go but things always come up just got to bounce back from them. It's like that saying what don't kill you only makes you stronger. Me feeling sick did not kill me it just made me stronger now I'm back tracked on work but once I pull through and turn everything in then I've become stronger. I've over come something that was kind of stressful, and the writing center knows how to handle essay assignments so I'm not stressing over coming. It's the fact that I did not get the paper yet and to include the rough draft was do today and since I missed Monday I did not receive the articles needed for the annotated bibliography. So you can see that I'm in a sticky situation I've started to write the essay just need to finish it, come to the writing center get it reviewed and stamped then I'll be right on track again. The writing center has always been helpful and today I just scheduled a tutoring session and being that it’s the holiday break I’ll have time to right my paper. Hopefully I get an A on it because for this essay I’ve been having a little bit of trouble. We’ll see how everything turns out I ‘am probably going to have to write a blog about it so you’ll be able to see how everything went.

REFLECTING OVER MY NEW ASSIGNMENT "ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY"

In class we were given instructions on how to complete our new assignment. It's the last essay assignment that we are going to have and for some weird reason it seems like its going to be the hardest one. Every time we get an essay assignment we print out a paper that tells us exactly what we got to have in the essay. We went over the paper in class and read it out loud the instructions on the paper are somewhat confusing. They always are but when I head to the writing center everything becomes so easy. The paper is like the written ingredients to a recipe follow all the steps and you'll have a well written essay. Also on the paper that we printed out there was an example of an annotated bibliography. The other papers before did not have examples that's why I believe this essay is going to be the hardest one. We have to read articles summarize them and give an evaluation of them, sounds easy but there is a cerain format that we have to follow. So I'm going to follow the paper completely through because I want to get a good grade on the last essay assignment of the semester.

THANKSGIVING

Thanksgiving the holiday that the early Indians celebrated with the Pilgrims back on Plymouth Rock is the true purpose thanksgiving is celebrated. This holiday has gone on ever since but what is the real reason for celebrating thanksgiving? To me thanksgiving is that one day to get stuffed just like the turkey does. Also it's the holiday to be around your family have a huge family dinner be thankful for your family above all else. Celebrating thanksgiving has always been a good thing for me every year me and my family always eat at my aunt’s house. Let me tell you she knows how to cook a thanksgiving meal fit for a king. Thanksgiving brings families closer say if you got in a fight with your cousin, uncle, brother, etc. No matter the circumstance thanksgiving has this way of bringing us as a people and as a family together. I'm glad that there are communities that give the poor a meal on thanksgiving. They have no home no family and deserve a meal on thanksgiving everyone does. The Indians and Pilgrims hated each in the beginning and they learned how to set aside their differences. The Indians taught the Pilgrims how to crop plants and in return the Pilgrims showed the Indians spices and wines. So this is a big example of what the meaning of thanksgiving is and this is what it means to me. Being thankful for everything you have, your life the clothes on your back your neighbors and also family. When thanksgiving comes around this is all I think about and I thank god for my accomplishments. The word thanksgiving says it all thanks for giving, so why not give someone something be happy for what you have but also share. Sharing is a big thing as well sharing with someone lets them know that you care about them. Come on if you saw someone with a big juicy turkey leg you'd want them to share. In today’s world many are greedy many only want what they want thanksgiving has this sort of magic that changes their view point and makes them give. Christmas is somewhat like this getting together with family and friends, but Christmas has a whole different meaning. Holidays over all are good things, they bring communities together and they bring out the happy person in everyone. So you won’t catch that jerk that gives you a hard day on upcoming Thanksgiving.

REFLECTING ON IN CLASS EXPERIENCE FOR TODAY

Lately I have been blogging on my contrast essay assignment. In class today we read out load our rough drafts to each other. We were in groups of three, my classmate Jesse went first I and my other classmate named Luis gave him some good tips after he got done reading. We did this through the whole class period read out loud and got feedback on each other’s essays. I'm glad I did not turn in my essay as my final copy because I probably would not have got the grade I wanted. I have to do some revising on it now but the revising should get me that A that I want. Today’s class was very beneficial I think it helped me out a lot, it helped because I never would have saw my paper through the view points of others. The feedback is what I'm talking about without this feedback my paper probably would have been a low C. Now all that’s left to do is type out the final copy turn it in and see what I get. We went to the writing center and went in a room I’ve never seen before it was nice and quiet. It really gave us a listing ear no distractions around only hearing the reader and there paper. That I think was the best part of the whole experience for me today.

REFLECTING OVER MY WRITING CENTER EXPERIENCE

Like I’ve said before the place to go to for help on any writing assignment is the writing center. The past experiences have all been good and that’s why I keep coming for each and every one of my essay assignments. They help you with everything from starting to finishing, whoever is the director or person in charge is doing a real great job. In my blogs lately I've been talking about my contrast essay on Myspace and Facebook this is why I came to the writing center. I want feed back on my work to see if I'm doing a good job. They helped me on the topic sentences and the thesis statement I always have a little bit of trouble with these sentences but thanks to the writing center I've learned how to master the technique in making them. I have a book as well to learn from but I'm a kinesthetic learner that means I learn through hands on and visual work. The writing center is helping me learn how to write by showing me what to do and giving me the hands on work I need. My tutor gave me a pen and said, "Here you go show me where you think you need some improvement." After that we just started creating ideas to feed off of and by the end of the whole session I'd really learned a lot and saw what my essay was going to look like. So I'm always going to recommend the writing center to any student they even let you print up to ten pages a day. I'm glad they don't charge because I'd be spending a lot. My essay is coming along very well ever since my tutoring session. I’m hoping that I get an A on this essay assignment. The writing center says it all “writing center” come here to write something and get help on it. Also so far I have not had the same tutor I don’t know if they do that on purpose but I like the fact that I get to work with different people. People all think differently and by getting a different tutor every time I see different viewpoints and gain knowledge off of each experience. I just wish I had a writing center at my house with my own personal tutor. Then I would not have to stay at school so long. I need the education and ultimately the writing center is giving me the exact education I need.

REFELCTING ON TODAYS CLASS EXPERIENCE

In class we were given an assignment over how to write an essay. We were shown how our paper should be setup on Microsoft word. The margins and double spacing all that good stuff that comes with writing in MLA format. We were supposed to focus on San Antonio College the college me and my classmates attend. We created a title and then went on with it, I wrote two paragraphs and my MLA format was good. After all of us got done we printed our papers out. I kept an extra copy just to see how MLA is supposed to look. Now I can right my essay with the correct format and hopefully get an A on it. The essays I turned in before were B’s but thanks to today that won’t happen anymore. In today’s assignment I used a lot of evidence to back me up. My title was the reason why SAC is one of the most suitable environments for your everyday student. So my paragraphs where over this and I would type out what I wrote for you to see but this blog only has to be two-hundred words long. Last thing each day I learn something new and it becomes beneficial college is an experience. So if you plan on attending your making a choice that you won’t regret.

FACEBOOK AND MYSPACE ARTICLES

In class we went over Myspace and Facebook articles once again. The converse over the two is between their differences and that they're no good to people. By saying no good I mean that they are nothing but trouble for people. One article talks exactly about this how a boy met a girl who he that was at least eighteen. She turned out to be fourteen and he himself was nineteen. They had sex and he got in trouble with the law, this is just one example the article gives. Another article was on which one is better, now this is hard they both offer the same thing. I believe it’s the user that chooses which one is better you can’t get a real answer on which one is more addictive. People are both on them from day in to day out it would be hard, but for me I like MySpace a lot more. Music is something that was brought up in one of the articles, how MySpace is allowing music to be used on their sight without purchase. ITunes and all those things that have to deal with paying for music are being scammed off. These industries are mad because MySpace lets so many people have music for free and they’re not getting anything out of it. I like music a lot and when it comes to listening to it on a computer it should be free. So I really don't agree with this article. Some of the other articles where once again over how your Myspace and Facebook accounts could get you into trouble. Whether its for getting a job or maybe even getting you fired, all I can say is be careful of what you leak out on the internet. Don't say something stupid that might just get you in trouble use these social websites only for their purpose. Everyone wants to express themselves just be careful how you do it because you never know who’s watching. This is a debate that can go on for days and the articles are helping me see a lot between the two. I need to my contrast essay over the two. The articles are really giving me ideas and helping me out a lot. So does technology really affect us in a good or bad why I’ll leave that up to you. I believe it is beneficial and will play a big part of everyone’s life for a very longtime.

VIDEO SUMMARY

Technology, a big part of our everyday lives whether it’s from your phone to your computer and even to that game system you kids spend hours at times on. In class today we watched a video over technology and how it is viewed and used in today’s world. A woman by the name of Dana Boyd was presenting a presentation over technology to a big crowd. It was even being filmed at the time. She says that people view technology as the devil because some believe it is destroying the way schools are teaching their students. In the old days it was books and paper today it is laptops, computers, iphones, and things such as email. Is it really destroying us or bettering us? That is the question she is trying to answer and she answers it well she gives examples of Myspace Facebook and a website I've never seen called Bebo. She says people use these websites mainly to socialize and its true. I use it only to socialize with friends and family, she says something funny to about young boys using these websites. She begins to say they only are called collectors because they spend most of their time searching for cute girls and adding them. Everyone else is on their mainly for socialization. Technology is at an advanced era where we don't even need paper and pencil anymore. This to me is not such a bad thing with each new invention comes great things the computer most of all. She gives a example of Wikipedia a search engine that helps you look up and find research on things. If you type in Stonehenge up comes Stonehenge with all this information to write a story on. So technology is not bringing us down but brings us up in a way it has never done before. We as people learn quickly from using the internet you are constantly using grammar and spelling daily if you use a computer daily. The idea that technology is a bad thing is one that can be debated about all day. Dana Boyd is with technology and backs it up well, through the video she is talking and showing examples on a projector. There great examples and the video is very informing it makes you want to get into this debate and write your own feelings on it kind of what I doing right now. PAPER OVER COMPARISON OR CONTRAST ESSAYS

We have been focusing on writing comparison or contrast essays in class for the last past weeks. We get to choose which one comparison or contrast, in a comparison essay you have to write about the similarities between two different things and contrast you got to tell the difference. In class we where given a paper that really helped us out a lot, it helped us pin point what we really wanted to focus on. I'll give you a nice example what if you where writing about the difference between fruits and vegetables. That would be something you'd have to write down get ideas from and build off of. We're all writing about Myspace and Facebook and mine is a contrast essay so I'm going to be writing about the difference between the two, sometimes it's hard to find ideas. That's why I'd tell you if you ever write one of these essays get visual help and write off that. When class was over I went and pulled up both websites on the internet and started jotting down notes on there differences. The paper helped because it gave me a place to start and the start is always the best thing of something. Now the next thing for me to do is start writing my paper, I have the notes and the paper from class so it should be easy to write.

FACEBOOK AND MYSPACE

Mostly everyone likes to talk and meet new people, we would call this socializing. These two websites offer us this, giving us opportunities to meet new people and talk to your friends. On these websites you can post comment, pictures, and much more. You can write statements about yourself I could write something like, my name is Adam Guerra I’m your average guy currently going to San Antonio College or also known as SAC. People who look you up or add you as a friend on these websites will be able to view it. So sometimes you got to be careful of what you write about, also be careful of pictures and comments that you post up. You don’t want people reading or seeing something that’s inappropriate. I had to create a Facebook account for class and what I noticed about this website is that it is totally different then Myspace's set up. To me I see it more as a socializing website. Myspace is more for your enjoyment and entertainment. With Myspace you can add music and edit your profile with moving pictures, you can even include pictures of yourself where as with Facebook it’s more of just adding pictures and talking to friends and people. There both great websites especially if you want to get to talking to new people. One thing I like about Facebook is that you can add people from around the world I found that very interesting. They might speak a different language but at times you'll meet someone who can speak English. It's nice to meet people on the other side of the world you can view there photo's and learn a little bit about there culture. We as people need to venture out and meet people learn more about each other. We could learn from others and that's something I will always want to do. Websites like these need to be introduced to everyone and that’s why many people already know of them and use them constantly. Many people also spend so much time chatting on these websites. For example one of my personal experiences, I was up late one night on Myspace talking to someone I had meet from California we where just going on and on with conversation. I finally went to sleep around three in the morning I told myself never again. So I really learned that websites such as these play a big part in today’s world. Back to a future blog I wrote, you can even become famous through these websites. Like such rap artist as Soulja Boy, so they really open up doors to endless opportunities, big ones at that.

ARTICLES AND VIDEOS OVER OBESITY AND BEAUTY

In today’s world there are so many people worried about becoming obese or maybe being ugly. The way we define beauty today has changed rapidly over the years. In one of the videos over beauty it had a woman describing exactly this, giving examples of how this is affecting the world today especially on women. The reason why women think they are not beautiful is a big reason they go off and buy skin care products, acne medications, and other such things that help a women feel a little more comfortable with herself. It is also affecting men now these days the models as she says are something like the perfect picture the ideal man or women and many people strive so hard to be like this image that they end up doing whatever it takes to become exactly it. One of the other videos shows a young girl starring at you and then all of a sudden it goes into many pictures of models and make-ups and what caught my attention is what it says at the end of this video "talk to your daughters before the modeling industry does". So even at a young age we are affect by this perfect image they are messing with are why of thinking, what beauty really is. They edit these pictures on computers to make the model seem more gorgeous than she really is. This is an argument that was being brought up throughout all these videos and a big one that many countries are facing. Another thing is obesity the U.S. as I found out is one of the biggest. The article was over obesity in Brazil how it is catching up with them, you can no longer see many men or women at the beaches do to the cause of obesity overwhelming the country. Studies showed that this is true and that many Brazilians are getting many surgeries done just to get that beach bikini body. Over all to me obesity and beauty is in the eye of the beholder and what I mean by that is if your view of beauty is that model your wrong you’re fooled. Believe only what you believe is beauty and then you become the eye of the beholder and see that beauty and obesity are just things that are unique and different we are all special in our own ways and this is something I truly believe.

ARTICLE REVIEW

In class we were given four articles to read dealing with Facebook. In each article it basically was saying to be careful of what you leak out on the web about yourself. They gave examples especially if you are looking for a job. They said that employers are looked up and can be searched on the internet through such websites like Facebook. It also said that even a picture might not just give you that job you wanted. It could be a picture from you partying, maybe it having to deal with alcohol. Pictures such as this well not get you the job, the articles also had sections where they were going against this. They said the way someone presents themselves on the internet should not be compared to the way they work and it should not keep them from getting a job. I agree with this part because the way I act at a job is entirely different from the way I act on a daily bases. If you can learn how to balance out the two then you should get the job. In the articles it also said that schools were not accepting students as well, if they had pictures or information that was unexcitable. Now this really gets to me because if a student has a good grade point average and meets the requirements he should not have to be declined from attending a college or university. I can be honest and say some of my website pictures might be unexcitable, but it should not have to hold be back from getting a degree in what I'm majoring in. The articles really gave me a lot of information I did not know such as that companies or job placement could look you up on the internet. I plan on reading the articles that will be coming up because I learn something new each time and that is always helpful. Reading is a good thing you always gain a lot of knowledge from it. I can really say college English is very beneficial English is part of our daily life, the articles we read in class have mostly pertained to the internet and school life. Jobs, school, and the internet are all three different things they should not have to be compared. It’s true you need a good education to get the high paying job but the internet you’re Facebook and Myspace should not hold you back from that. Just the internet in general, I believe it should not affect you in any way whether its pictures or information, if you have the grades and the knowledge that’s all that should be looked at.

PANDORA AND LAST/FM

In class we we're introduced to two websites on these websites you can listen to music. You can create your own account and add your favorite songs to it. Well, I'm going to start with Pandora, I like this site a lot because you can type what genre of music your looking for. Then out of the genre, up comes all the artists that are under that type of music. You can add your favorite artists and it gives you all of the songs they have produced. So you can pick and choose what songs you want and what artist as well. The best part about this site is you can share your music with your friends and they can share it with you. You can even add this website to your mobile phone so when you’re on the go. I like music a lot and I use it as a stress reliever, I'd recommend this website to you if you like music as well. That's what Pandora is basically about, now let me tell you about Last/Fm. Last/Fm is the same thing but, they add videos to your music so you get double the goodness out of it. You get your favorite songs and the video to them, you can share them with your friends as well. The only difference between the two is one gives you videos and the other does not. To me really, there the same music is good no matter if it has a video or not. We listen to music more than we see it. Over all if you love music and like to create your own play-list of music I'd say either one is fine. I never knew of these websites until this day so I plan on using them, especially when I'm on the go or when I’m studying. I like to listen to music so I can zone out every other noise and focus on my work. I really recommend both to you so see which one suit’s you better. Music is a big part of life it gives us a sense of happiness you can have the worst day in your life and out of no where up comes your favorite song. If I had a bad day I’d probably start to sing the words to my favorite song if I it came on the radio station.

REFLECTING OVER MY WRITING CENTER EXPERIENCE

Tutoring is always beneficial especially if you’re having trouble understanding a certain subject. The writing center is the place to go if you need help on understanding how to start a writing assignment that you’re having trouble on. Well, I went for help on my descriptive essay assignment the other day. The tutor helped me find out a new way to setting up my writing process. I read my essay draft to him and he took notes on the side. After I was done reading he read his notes to me, they were over parts of my essay that I needed to work on. Things that I needed to work on were my tense, my pronoun shifting, and adding more description to some portions of my essay. He also helped me create a thesis statement and topic sentences for each and every one of my paragraphs. He gave me advice on writing essays for future reference; he gave me the reason for each topic sentence and told me the reason behind the thesis statement. The thesis statement purpose is to inform your reader what you are going to be writing over. It should say exactly what you’re writing about for any essay or writing assignment as he said. I like going to the writing center because every time I leave I leave with something new in mind. I also like the fact that they take consideration on how you want your paper to be written. They ask questions like where are you on the assignment, what do you need help on, how would you start this paragraph, and from these questions they build off on it with you. That to me is the best part about the writing center they really know how to handle your situation. I wish I had something to complain about or wish something was done differently but there’s nothing that comes to my mind. The tutoring I got helped me and I’m glad for that, so nothing needed to have changed or needed to be different. Tutoring is going to be a big part throughout my college life so I plan to get it as much as I can.

COMMENTING ON BLOG'S

It is always a good thing to give a person a comment whether it is good or bad. It help's the person see what they did wrong, it also informs them that they've done a great job. In class we made comments on each other's blog's that we have been writing since the second day that school started. I enjoyed commenting on others blog's I like to help people out a lot and giving someone a comment makes them feel good. I'm all for that so I would not mind making more comments on other classmates work. I got comments as well not as much as I wanted but you can't have it all. The comments are helping at times you get comments that are agreeing with you or you'll get the jerk that leaves a totally mean comment. I plan on giving people comments throughout my life whether it’s on paper or spoken through words. Teacher's always give students comments when they get there work back to help them improve, so comments are a good thing most of the time. It was an experience in class commenting my friend's blog's, so if you’re reading this make a comment on this paragraph about commenting.

TIMELINE FOR A DISCRIPTIVE ESSAY

Timelines usually always help you see what happens in order, say for example, like in history dates from 1800-1900. You see what happens from beginning to end; this is always a good thing it's like how writing needs a writing process. It's the foundation of what you feed off of to write about, timelines are just like that you see what happens in order so that you can get the story out of it. Well in this descriptive essay assignment that we were given we created timelines for our story's. Creating this timeline helped me out a lot because I was having a hard time starting off my descriptive essay. It gave me the big picture to my story I got the beginning, middle, and end out of it. I even got the in-between to my story and I don't think I could have done this without the creation of this timeline. It helped me visualize where I wanted my reader to start and where I wanted them to end up at. A descriptive writing as I'm told is exactly that, a story giving your reader a picture of what you see, feel, taste, hear, and smell. This process is sort of a hard one to catch on to, but thanks to the timeline I saw for myself what I wanted my reader to see. I don't think anything else would have helped, well there might be one thing my own personal tutor, now that would have been great but unfortunately I don't have one. Each thing I've learned as I said before has helped me in some way that I know is always going to stick in my mind. As my blog title says "YEA BUDDY COLLEGE TIME" this is because in college you’re given the final keys to help you with life. In a way I'm really writing my timeline to you on my college life. So clearly timelines are a very import fact in trying to describe anything, it's the story from beginning to the end. The descriptive essay is over a vlog a video blog. The timeline that I made is me describing the video to you from once I clicked play to the time the video was over and done with.

VLOGS

So we got a new assignment to get done, we are supposed to write a descriptive essay over a vlog. You might ask what is a vlog? A vlog is a video of you basically introducing yourself to the cyber world, or what you like to call the internet. You can go under YouTube and type in first vlogs and you'll see what vlogs are all about. It is a form of communication with audio and visual reference people connecting through the net. Many people find it hard to make one because many people don't know what to say. I'd just describe how my day went and use my surroundings; all you got to do is talk into the camera. Act as if the camera was a person maybe one of your best friends, many people also find it hard because they are very shy. Well let me describe my vlog to you and I posted a link at the end of this blog so you can see it for yourself. It is entitled MY FIRST VLOG/At The Park. In this vlog there is this boy who is sitting at a park making his vlog and in the background you see suburb type houses with a street included to the whole scene. He begins by saying "My first vlog!". Then just starts to describe where his at what's funny about this vlog is that he say's I don't want everyone to think I'm one of those crazy people that talks to themselves. Well right after he says that a car passes by and he stops talking to the camera and begins to whistle acting as if he's doing nothing at all. Also he say's I'm going to eat this pudding pop while you just sit there. Out of no were out comes a pudding pop and he begins to eat it and says to the camera want some. He included music in his vlog it sounds very mellow and relaxing. Well that's just in the beginning of this vlog want to know more you’re going to have to read my descriptive essay. AN ANTHROPOLOGICAL INTRODUCTION TO YOUTUBE

We all know the well known website by the name of YouTube. We were instructed to watch a video which was titled An Anthropological Introduction to YouTube. In this video an anthropologist by the name of Mike Wesch begins to describe how YouTube started off and how big it has become. He also describes how much of an impact it has had on universal communication. People around the world are not only using YouTube just for amusement but also using it in a form of communication. Mike describes how YouTube has overcome TV viewing, he says it is because YouTube has no producers, no script writers it is original made. Mike Wesch gives an example of a video entitled Numa Numa. In this video there is a kid by the name of Gary Broslam who lip sings a song and gives a lot of facile expressions, and over all is just showing his enjoyment to the song. This video receives a lot of views and remakes all over the world begin to be created. This is just one of many remakes on YouTube he always gives the example of a well known rap artist by the name of Soulja Boy. He shows us how YouTube gave Soulja Boy his star presence. YouTube he claims has given us a new way of seeing the web it links us in a new way and every year a new device is created to link us even closer as a people. This to me is very interesting how the web can create such a big impact on the world, we can see what or neighbors across the way are doing. In example videos from China, Spain, and Brazil can be viewed and etc. Throughout the video he gives examples of videos that have had an impact on YouTube worldwide. He also has a class that is experimenting with YouTube, for a certain number of days they have to record a YouTube video on themselves to get out to the worldwide web. The class even recorded a video on themselves to let YouTube viewers know what they are doing. I agree with Mike Wesch that YouTube and other broadcasting sites help the media and help us in general as far as communication goes.

DIFFERENCE FROM BLOG 3 AND THE ESSAY

Blog 3 was a message to your friend in your group, saying that you where mad at them for not turning in their work. Do to them not turning in the work you have gotten a grade you did not want. In my message I wrote at a different tone then I did in the essay, well because it was to a friend. The essay was to a teacher saying you wanted a grade change and when you talk to a teacher it is at a different tone. I had to write at a professional tone more like in a convincing manner. The message did'ent have anything specific on it like the essay did. The essay has to have certain things, like staying in a 1st person or 3rd person set of writing. Also it has to have three paragraphs to it; each paragraph has to have six or more sentences in it as well. The message I just wrote off my head I wrote it done and just typed it in my blog. When it came to the essay I had to revise it and make sure everything was right and had the requirements needed. So blog 3 was totally different it was much easier than the essay because I put more time in doing the essay. I'm really not a patient person but when it comes to something that is important or especially for a grade I'll be a very patient person. I believe this essay I have wrote is very good, it to me has all the requirements and some of my classmates read it and said it was good as well. Just like I'm writing this blog right now I would be writing completely differently if I was writing something like an essay. In writing there are always certain requirements like grammar, punctuation, and sticking to a subject. People find it hard to stick to a certain topic because the wonder off and get distracted. When you write just let your emotions flow through the paper as if you where really there and in that situation. When you do the writing becomes as easy as reading and eating. This is how I see writing, I don't know what writing means to you but this is what it means to me.

REFLECTING ON WORK SHOP EXPERIENCE

Today in class we formed groups to go over are essay's we have written. My essay was short but got straight to the point of what i wanted to get across. I will have to make some corrections on it because the reason for the groups was to tell and help each other on what we should add or take away. The essay as I said before was supposed to be to a teacher requesting a grade change and mine was exactly about that. I just feel I have to make it a little longer so the read can get my point and really understand where I'm coming from. The group set up was a good way to learn because each person writes differently we also had to read ours out loud to others. In doing so they gave us feedback, sort of like ideas of what to look at for revising it. Each of ours were all different some longer than others and some shorter. Our teacher also listened in to help us and to give us some advice it was helpful. Each day I come to class I learn a lot more, not only about myself but others as well. This to me is always a good thing and always very beneficially because you can learn how to use others ways of writing and make it your own, and build it with your way of writing to make a great new set up to your writing process. So basically in class today we talked about how to correctly write a proper essay on email etiquettes in English 0301 the exercise that we went through today showed me how to write it out and know what to examine when I am write another paper dealing with this topic. So what I got to say about this is we should do this more often therefore the class can all follow up more easily.

INTERNET DATING ARTICLES

In class my group was given an assignment on articles dealing with online dating. We were supposed to summarize each one, there were four articles and in my team we have four members so each of us summarized one. There are dangers with using online dating you never know who can be on the other side of that computer screen. Online dating has taken away the old fashion way of meeting someone and also like I said poses dangers to. My article was called "Getting Back In to It" it was about people who got divorced or had become widowed and use the internet to find a mate. It help's at times to use these online dating websites because you are meeting new people but, how much chatting can you do until you really know someone. This was what my article was on. One of the other articles was called "The Dating Detective" who knew there were detectives looking out for you, hired to spy on your online chatting partner if you wanted to take things seriously. There are many cases in India were online daters are finding a wrong spouse. The detectives help in this problem they are hired to help you make sure the spouse is good financially and socially but most of all not a cheater. That is what this article was about one of the others was called "eHarmony Biased Against Gays". Now eHarmony is accused of not allowing gay people to use their website. There have been so many complaints on their website for gay couples and even lawsuits have been put on against them. The creator of eHarmony says that he is in a town were gay marriage is not acceptable and he agrees strongly with it this is why it is not allowed on his website after all he is the creator. The next article was "Internet Dating 2.0" this article was basically informing us of the use of internet dating, how it is taking over the way people meet a partner for life you could say and it gives examples in it to show us how the internet is doing this. I believe the internet is not a place to meet someone I believe it is a form to learn or research that's it I strongly believe in meeting someone the right way in person and up front.

EMAIL ETIQUETTE ESSAY

In class we were given instructions on how to start our essay assignment. I thought this essay was going to be easy to do, but sometimes we are all fooled. On this essay assignment there is going to have to be a lot of revising and editing. Also I was told paragraphs were five to seven sentences long. Well in high school it was thought that way but college is a whole other different story. That was the difficult part to hear, because now the way I set up my writing process is going to have to change a bit, but the good thing about it is that I will be learning to write at a college level. Also we were told to go to the writing center to get some help in writing this essay, get some tutoring on how to write at the college level you could say. Being in college has been very beneficially to me. I learn more and more each day learning more skills that will help me throughout life. That is the best thing I can say about college, these writing skills that I take in will be used in the future and that is always beneficially. We were also given this paper that gave us tips on how to write a good essay sort of like a key on a map. It gave us good advice on what to do when writing an essay. All in all everything i write and learn are a good thing for my life I believe knowledge is power, and with having so much knowledge you're able to do most things in life better. That's how I see it when it comes to learning I enjoy to write a lot because you're expressing yourself through your paper. This essay is going to be exactly that, sort of like an art work but only with writing. I want to learn more on college level writing, so I plan on writing a lot more throughout the semester.

ARTICLE REVIEW # 2

In class we were given articles to read again they were over the same thing, technology in the classrooms. One of the articles was written by Al Gore former vice president. He believes technology especially computers are a good source for learning. In his article he was agreeing throughout it that technology should not be seen as a bad method of teaching but it should be seen as a new and advanced way of teaching. He said that studies show that the students with computer access show a higher percent of passing. His goal is to get computers in schools so that all students can have the same percent of hopefully getting a higher grade. I agree with him because he has studied a lot to get were he is in the government. I think it's good that computers are in schools and that students have access to them for learning. It makes researching and finding things a whole lot easier. That's always a good thing to me, well let me discuss the other article to you. The second one was on iphone's and ipod touches again more and more universities are using this method to teach through these to devices. It also gives reasons why iphone's and ipod touches are not a good idea it says that it is a distraction one student even stated in this article he said "I'd at sometimes use it to get away from my professor" a distraction in class as you can see. I believe it's all in your mentality do you want to learn easier or do you not want to pay attention and learn nothing. You make it a distraction or you make it that device that is going to help you. Class is for learning and well if the school is going to hand out a device like the iphone and the ipod I'd say use it to learn, and then when class is over use it for fun.

ARTICLE REVIEW

Today in class we went over four articles dealing with texting and technology. In the articles some agreed that technology helps a writer improve his or her writing skills. In the other case it said that technology and texting affected a writer's writing skill. Which one do you believe? Well it's a big debate over the two and we all have are different view points. Me personally, I believe technology and texting help sharp out writer's skills, because you are using your grammar and spelling but not only that you are also socializing on a daily bases. Whether it's from texting, IM messaging, myspace, facebook, and other social technology usage you are writing. Of course you may write differently when you are socializing with friends, we all talk differently we have are slang words, words me make up but our friends know. In the articles it said that university's are handing out iphone's this to me is a good step in education, technology was made to better or life make things fast to do. The iphone, with so many programs on it you can almost use anything or find anything on it, for the instructors to send email through the iphone and also class assignments that's technology at its best. One of the other articles mentioned a program that sent you a green, yellow, or red light depending on where your grade stood. It also sent a message on what you should do in certain classes to better your grade. Again to me this is technology at it's best, day after day we discover more about the usage of technology I say use, if it's going to better a situation make it easier on you then use it. I don't believe texting and technology affects a writers skill it's all you, your mentality is the key. In the article a professor stated that she thinks we are on the verge to a new writing era. A big break through in writing is at hand she say's its because of how so many young people do so much writing then before. This is a debate that can go on but I believe technology over all helps students.

REFLECTING

In today's class we were given our syllabus, and on this syllabus it shows us what's expect of us to get an A in our class. We were also given a schedule of due dates on assignments and on up coming assignments. The team has a challenge coming up and I sure am ready for it I just hope the other members are. We are supposed to read four articles and then discuss them amongst ourselves. I really don't like reading but when it comes to gaining something out of it like an A I will. Plus the articles seem like they will be good, I might even enjoy reading them. I expected to do a lot of research and assignments in this class I even went to go buy ink and paper for my printer at home. You always got to expect to do work if you want to get your goals done in life. Well my team has been doing great so far but, you never know some of us may start slacking. I hope that does not happen, I hope my team members put as much effort as I' am. When I look at the schedule there is a lot of assignments and readings to do. I'll have to encourage my teammates and give them help at all times, after all we are a team. When I said I was a team player i meant it. All I want to do is get an A if not then a B nothing less then that. Well reflecting on something is always good because you get ideas of how to make a situation better. De-Terminators are on their way to an A. Well if I do my part, which I' am and I know my partners want an A too so if any of my partners read this just know I got us.

BEING A TEAM PLAYER TO GET AN A IN CLASS

Have you every had an assignment were your supposed to work with someone, sort of like a team thing. If both people do their work well I'd say you were going to get a good grade. Well what happens when your partner gets lazy? Well I'll tell you, you don't get that grade you wanted. This is going out to my partner you know who you are. Do to you we did not get the grade I wanted, from now on don't be my partner, we're still cool and stuff but like when it comes to assignments we're not. It's harsh but I really wanted that A and I needed it. Plus it was an easy assignment what's your favorite color. Come on man your favorite color, that's so easy to answer you really are lazy. I should have just told everyone it was pink and also I should have told them why, because it's the same color of those under wears you say you always like to wear. Just kidding I'd never tell them that that's to mean but really man next time give it your all because in a team thing like that if one of us fails we both fail. We don't want that, don't you want to pass because I know I do. So for next time when you work with a partner do it and if you don't I'll tell them your secret. Just kidding again I can't believe you told me you have pink underwear. We're friends but come on something's like that you keep to yourself. So we're going to have a big assignment next week and if you can't figure out what to do or need help, I'll help. Only help not do it for you and remember do it for your partner and team. I'm a team player it's easy to be one so I know you can do it. Well I wrote this to let you know how I felt about the grade and also we're still cool alright I'm out.

WHAT IS YOUR WRITING PROCESS?

Well my writing process consists of a quite place so I can really capture my ideas. When it comes to writing I don't make an outline I just, how can I say this? go with the flow. What I think in my head I write out on the paper and I'll re-read it to make sure it sounds good. If it does I'll keep it and if it doesn't, well I think of a better way to make it catch the reader's attention. I always need something to drink while I'm writing to get this sense of like flow I guess. I think if you're hydrated you think better I don't know about you but that's my way of seeing it. I also like to sit somewhere comfortable, be in a relaxing state of body and mind so a nice rolling chair will do fine, sounds funny but those chairs are comfortable. I also need a good place to write a desk to me is the perfect place and if not a desk just something hard to write on will do fine. Breaks help me too because I do so much thinking I run out of new ideas to write down. So after a couple of minutes I'll come back to it and continue where I left off with fresh ideas. The beginning of whatever I'm writing must be the best part because I like grabbing the reader from the beginning the hook. Well this is how I handle most of my writing assignments yours may be a little different but we're all different in our own ways right.

HOW TECHNOLOGY IS USED IN MY LIFE

Well I've been born in to a world were technology has been used more than it ever has been used before. See i was born in 1991 an in this time period the cell phone, tv, and the computer have already been perfected. Eventually they came up with the ipod instead of the cd player to an the cell phones became more and more advanced, touch screens an stuff. I use all these technological devices in my life i use the computer for school work also for some research sometimes and just for my enjoyment to. Then the cell phone, like who does'ent have a cell phone come on texting is like the new thing besides talking on it. The cell phone i think is the biggest technological item we americans use the most today without it how would we talk to or friends or family that might be a good distance away from us. Technology no doubt has become the biggest thing that plays a part in our lifes today. Me i can watch some tv for real i can spend hours there watching my favorite shows or some sports activities at times. These are the items i use most often i dont know about you but without these i think it would be hard for me to be successful.
